DIY selfie-stick-tripod adaptor for phones

I had a pocket tripod and a selfie-stick and so I created an adaptor to join the selfie-stick's phone mount to the tripod.

Using recycled ice cream sticks that I cut, glued, drilled, shaped and painted, the adaptor gives me a stable semi-adjustable phone tripod for shooting video.

Spy gadgets at the KGB Museum

On our recent trip to Prague, we visited the KGB Muzeum.

The Russian owner gave a very dramatic tour presentation of their collection of weapons, cameras, and other spy items. He dramatically illustrated how agents would use a cigarette case gun or a knife that propelled blades.

The KGB Muzeum is next to a Kwik-E-Mart which sells cannabis products

Amazing gadget camera from the 1930s

Swiss Army Camera (photoshopped)
This photo is the "Swiss Army Camera" (photoshopped) version of the Jaeger LeCoultre Compass camera.

The real version of this 35 mm compact camera was one of the most advanced gadgets of its time in the 1930s. The British pilot and aircraft builder, Noel Pemberton-Billing (1991-1948) designed the Compass. He was also a politician, businessman and founder of the "Supermarine" company. A Swiss clock and watch manufacturer, famous for their high precision work on the instrument panels of many cars, they produced the gadget for the remarkably low price of 30 British pounds - about 1/5th the price of similar high tech cameras of the time. Less than 4000 units were made and their present value is between 1800-2200 USD.

Cool camera stuff

My first post to the blog, Yes I would like one of these for Christmas...

The ZCam is the first low-cost, consumer videocamera that can capture video with depth information and probably the first real challenger to Nintendo's Wiimote: with its 3D capture abilities it will allow you to play Wii-style without using any controls whatsoever. In fact, it is so precise that it will even recognize your finger gestures to fire a weapon or manipulate your computer like in Minority Report, but without gloves or any other external device:
